I wasn't aware that there was an authentication issue but it sounds good that you're already on top of it. Starting to get pretty exciting to see what else is coming and to think that things are not too far off a marketing stage.

There's one big problem left to solve: user authentication. Without it, anyone can create unlimited accounts, and there's no way who is who, who is commenting, how many upvotes/downvotes belong to how many people, how many users a subplebbit has, and there's no way for a subplebbit owner/admin to ban one of their users. This is an issue because subplebbits can't track the IP addresses of their users, which is how a lot of "anonymous" imageboards like 4chan do authentication (they monitor your IP, so if they have to ban you, they ban your IP). The good news is we know how to do this, we've been discussing about it, and it's pretty simple to implement. This is because of what is perhaps plebbit's most innovative feature: fully arbitrary p2p challenges. Anything that can be code can be a challenge, which includes various kinds of user authentication whether centralized or decentralized. We'll probably opt for a crypto-based one because it can be decentralized, issuing NFTs to users who either share their phone number, have a crypto balance or pay for it. These are just ideas, we'll share more soon. After this is done, plebbit will finally become usable. We'll start by revamping the default subplebbits list, creating a lot more subs, high quality ones, creating a list per client (e.g. plebchan's default subs will only contain imageboard-looking subs). Then, I think we can start marketing. I'll buy some ads on 4chan, twitter/X, etc.
