Plebbit is a token on Ethereum with liquidity on Uniswap.
- [Buy on Uniswap](https://app.uniswap.org/swap?outputCurrency=0xEA81DaB2e0EcBc6B5c4172DE4c22B6Ef6E55Bd8f&chain=ethereum)
The contract address is **0xea81dab2e0ecbc6b5c4172de4c22b6ef6e55bd8f**, you can check it out on [Etherscan](https://etherscan.io/token/0xea81dab2e0ecbc6b5c4172de4c22b6ef6e55bd8f). There's also a holder list/rich list [here](https://etherscan.io/token/0xea81dab2e0ecbc6b5c4172de4c22b6ef6e55bd8f#balances).
You don't necessarily need to hold ETH to buy PLEB, you can also swap any token with it without holding ETH if you use Uniswap X or [1inch Fusion](https://app.1inch.io/#/1/simple/swap/ETH/PLEB), which use the base token to pay for gas.
Plebbit is listed on [CoinGecko](https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/plebbit), you can vote for it and add it to your watchlist.

FAQ
---
- Q: *Why is the token a proxy contract / why is there an alert about it / why is tokensniffer score so low?*
- A: We need to use an upgradeable (proxy) contract because we aren't sure yet what features the token will need in the apps, or if it will need to be migrated to another chain again. If the token weren't upgradeable, we couldn't have migrated it from AVAX to ETH (the community held a governance vote [here](https://snapshot.org/#/plebbit.eth/proposal/0x57e2bece06c5879df94038da78833aaef2d7e42e232efaff381d45332f1334d7))
- Q: *Since the token contract is upgradeable, can't the owner rug it?*
- A: Esteban Abaroa controls the contract currently, and yes in theory he could rug the price. He started this project in late 2021, started the token in Feb 2022 and he's been kindly funding hundreds of thousands of dollars of development for it, so it would make no sense for him to rug it. This is not a memecoin or a pump and dump scheme, it's a serious social media project, fully transparent and [open source](https://github.com/plebbit).
- Q: *It's not a good image to have the contract upgradeable. Are you planning to renounce ownership?*
- A: Yes, once the project is more advanced and we know that nothing else will be needed, we can lock it permanently. Or put a timelock that would require waiting X month before a change happens. Or give control of it to a DAO. Note that many famous projects use proxy contracts, like Arbitrum and Aave.

I know esteban explained this before, but how does Plebbit expect to deal with child porn? Or terrorist threats?
